The President Calls Relatives of Attacked National Guard Personnel to the White House

Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

White House Call

The president stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president told the press. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that educators wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, stated to the media. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Actions and Government Changes

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy prompted the government to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop granting entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with the family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
