The British driver Lando Norris Wins First Formula One World Championship in Abu Dhabi In Spite Of Max Verstappen's Race Victory.

This moment was investigated by the stewards, with several nerve-wracking laps elapsing before a time penalty for his rival and no further action for Norris was decided. This decisive charge unimpeded was crucial to his championship bid.

Diverging Fortunes

While Norris became the first British driver to win the title since Lewis Hamilton in 2020, the difference in form between the two was stark. As the young guns fought for the title, Hamilton, the grand champion, could manage only eighth place in Abu Dhabi, a dismal conclusion to a difficult season with Ferrari.

Making his debut with the Italian team had been met by excitement but produced what was easily his worst season ever, ending up sixth in the championship and failing to secure a top-three finish. He has appeared jaded in the closing races and will aim to reset over the winter.
