Aerial Pictures Reveal Iran's Naval Forces and Nuclear Sites Struck by US-Israeli Military Action.

A series of American and Israeli strikes has reportedly eliminated or harmed no fewer than 11 warships belonging to Iran since the weekend, recently obtained satellite images show, with missile bases and atomic facilities also coming under fire.

Images of the southerly Konarak naval base and the Bandar Abbas facility, which sits on the Strait of Hormuz and contains the main command of the Iranian navy, depict black smoke pouring from a number of warships on recent days.

Maritime Assets Incurred Significant Damage

Among the targets eliminated was the IRINS Makran, the country's most sizable ship which had been used as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Aerial imagery indicated black smoke emanating from the vessel which had been docked at the Bandar Abbas base.

Analytical evaluations state that at least five ships at the port were "hit or sunk". Imagery of the southern part of the port depict smoke rising from the Makran, while another pair of vessels appear to be impacted, with a single one visibly ablaze.

Over at the Konarak base, images reveal several harmed vessels, with expert review pointing to impacts on a half-dozen warships. Photos from the start of the week also indicate that a number of buildings at the installation have been destroyed.

"For a long time the Iran's leadership has harassed international shipping," the head of US Central Command stated. "Today, there is not a single Iranian vessel operational in the Persian Gulf, Hormuz Strait or Sea of Oman, and we will continue."

A number of vessels allegedly sunk may have been obscured in aerial photos by cloud or smoke, or targeted offshore, and have not been conclusively proven. Additional information stated that an Iranian vessel was foundering off the coast of Sri Lanka's waters, resulting in a rescue operation.

Rocket Installations and Nuclear Facilities Attacked

Eliminating Tehran's launch facilities and the hindering of enrichment activities were stated as further objectives of the air campaign. Aerial imagery also showed impacts against the southerly Khorgu and north-western Tabriz missile bases, and at the Konarak air air base, where missile storage facilities and bunkers were struck.

At the Choqa Balk-e drone base west of Kermanshah, significant destruction was seen to warehouses, underground facilities and drone launch equipment.

Damage was also observed at a radar site at the Zahedan airbase airbase in eastern Iran, near the frontier with neighboring nations.

Perhaps most notably, the latest wave of attacks have reportedly targeted facilities at the Natanz complex – considered at the heart of the country's atomic program. The UN's atomic energy body commented that the damaged buildings were used for entry to the facility's below-ground nuclear plant and that "no radiological consequence" was anticipated.

Broader Impact and Assessment

Observers indicated that the offensive appeared to have "largely neutralized" the Iran's naval capacity to sustain traditional warfare using its most significant vessels. But, it was stressed that Iran retains the ability to launch asymmetric warfare at sea through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, mini-submarines and its so-called "ghost fleet" of oil ships.

The full extent of the damage caused to Iran's defense infrastructure has yet to be fully assessed, with attacks said to be persisting. Pictures also reveals considerable destruction to the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the city of Tehran.

A significant number of public facilities also seem to have been struck in the capital and across Iran since the conflict escalated. Casualty figures from inside Iran state that many hundreds of non-combatants may have been lost their lives in the strikes.

Amid continuing hostilities, review of aerial photographs will persist to document the changing battlefield picture.
